Name of the Spa you visited?
Champneys Springs

What did you think to the facilities?
Décor is very dated, treatments were excellent, although some were somewhat overpriced. Adminisration at this resort is APPALLING!!! Expect the bill to be wrong and have great difficulty changing it. Our room exceeded our expectations for an economy room. Would have expected air con. Didn’t get wake up call we booked, my partner didn’t have one of the treatment she had booked and the resort had a Spanish foptball tem staying who constantly flauted the rules on smoking and mobile phones – even when near to staff who seemed to turn a blind eye.

What did you most LIKE about the Spa?
Location, great value for money and superb food

What did you most DISLIKE about the Spa?
Décor and customer services

Any treatments you particularly enjoyed or can recommend?
Crystal deluxe facial (microdermabrasion) was superb, very noticeable results – would definitely have again.

Had you been to a Spa before and how did it compare?
Yes, food was better, stay was good value as was the discount voucher for booking another stay. Could do with a face lift though and the pool was rather unimpressive – have booked to go to Champneys Tring next.

Over all mark out of 10? 7

The name of the Spa visited was Champneys Springs Hydro in Ashby de la Zouche.
Although it is the only Health Spa I have visited I have been there in excess of 20 times over the last few years. The facilities are fantastic.
I like the calm surroundings and the friendliness of the staff, they can't do enough for you.
The food and choice is outstanding.
I don't have a favourite treatment, I like them all.

Dear spalinks

We visited Champney Springs Leicestershire.

We had a great time at this Health Farm , the Spa facilities were excellent.  We particularly liked the gorgeous big swimming pool, and the detox wrap and champneys facial treatments.  the gym induction was also excellent and really motivating.

The person leading the "relax" session on the sunday (12pm sunday 30th
July) didn't have a very good voice for it though!  Our only other suggestion would be that at lunchtime there be some items without dressing and/or clearer food labelling for those with allergies or on diets.  However at dinner they were very helpful in explaining what my friend could eat.

I would give the spa 9 out of 10.  I have been to one spa previously, which I would say had less spacious and modern facilities but offered the thalassotherapy pool for free unlike champneys, and also had rather better food.

I booked through www.spaseekers.com who have a great "book early special offer" which  was excellent and we enjoyed our room upgrade, but didn't get all of the other elements mentioned so you need to make sure this is properly coordinated with the spa for example if they are supposed to ring or provide anything on arrival.

We had a fab time though and hope to be back next year!

thanks
Helen Smith

1. Champneys at Springs - in Leicestershire

2. Very good facilities, 25m pool is fantastic i especially like dthe sun lungers around the pool which allowed me and my friend to chill out and relax, while waiting for our next Spa treatment.

Bedrooms nice but lighting very bad - no bedhead/side lights and
lighting for doing your hair or applying make up not good (but then this is usual for British Hotels)
b Treatment areas/waiting areas very good - although could be a long walk
to some treatment rooms.

3. Cannot say there was anything thing that I particularly liked, i enjoyed the whole Spa experience and Champneys is the best Health Farm Group in the world!

4. One thing I did not like and I gained the impression that other people did not like.  Springs like to put people together around large tables. Now this may work for singles but when you add couples to these tables the conversation stops.  They only seemed to put mixed sex couples together on separate tables.  This idea does not work.

I also found the food especially at lunch time boring, certainly in comparison to Champneys at Henlow.  Also the way they did vegetables at the evening meal did not work - especially on the mixed up singles tables.  No one knew whose vegetables were whose.  Basically the Restaurant organisation was not good or not chaotic - no overall supervision/management.  Sorry I work in the Catering Industry so notice these things.

5. Favourite treatment - Head in the Clouds massage - lovely massage and
the gentlemen doing it was very attentive and did a great job.

6. 6 out of 10 - Champneys at Henlow when I was last there was much better
and they have the added advantage of a lovely building and setting.

7. I have been to Champneys at Henlow which I would go to again, also Hoar
Cross Hall in Staffordshire which I might go to again - but did feel it was a bit too large and impersonal.  Would very much like to go to the other Champneys spas to compare.

Hope the above is of help -  Your web site very good and your organisation very good.  Will be using your web site again for British Spa Breaks.

Visited Champneys Springs in Leicestershire The facilities were very good, better than I expected. I particularly liked the approachable attitude of the staff.

Would have liked a better range of treatments, such as are available at Ragdale Hall.
Well did my first 'spin' class and loved it, so will do more. In general the treatments were ok, but not exceptional. I'd give it 8/10. I'd certainly visit again.

I have previously been to Ragdale Hall a number of times, and prefer their treatments, and swimming/pool facilities. However I preferred the more relaxed and approachable attitude of the staff at Springs.

Thanks
Denise McCarron.
