A spa is an establishment that can provide a multitude of things and can cater for many requirements. There is no official definition of a spa, although many people have their own ideas of what a spa should be. In the dictionary a spa is described as a place that offers a mineral water spring, this is brought up by pumps as the spring is located underground. A good example of this is the spa in Bath. So who is looking for a resort that offers a source of natural water? The truth is not many of us. Yet we still call a wide spectrum of venues “a spa” What continues a spa has been discussed for many years, there is no central body that represents spas and nothing is published or on the internet that depicts what a spa should offer to qualify for the title of being called a spa.

So what should be on offer at a spa is very much more a case of what kind of facility is you looking for. Some spas specialise in day programmes. The spa will offer a selection of treatment packages ranging from a cheap price up to a more expensive package of spa treatments for this can afford a little more time and money.

Many of us chose to go to a spa in a hotel. A spa in a hotel can be rewarding in many ways as some hotels invest millions of pounds in their spa facilities and the guests are the ones that benefits. A spa in a hotel will also offer the facilities to enjoy beauty pampering treatments.

Many people interpretation of a spa is what is commonly known as a health farm. People refer to this kind of venue as a spa as it will offer fantastic treatments, the spa will be set rurally in beautiful grounds and will offer some fanatic leisure facilities in which you can relax and unwind.

So it is important to note these differences in what really is a spa, the best thing to do is to analyse what you are looking to achieve and ask plenty of questions before you go, then you can be sure you are going to the right spa for you.
